Find a spare room in Belfast

Belfast is a brilliant destination for a trip, no matter what you’re after. Students and tourists are consistently impressed by the historic monuments and museums, as well as the breathtaking scenery a short journey outside the city and the great nightlife at its heart ! Whether you’re studying at Queen’s University or Belfast Met, enjoying a weekend stay or moving for work, the Northern Irish capital will welcome you with open arms. Taking a spare room in a private home will offer you a cheaper accommodation and will free up some cash to explore Belfast.

What are the highlights of Belfast?

Belfast is a city of hidden gems and historic sites. There’s so much on offer that it’s worthwhile doing some research before you go so that you don’t miss anything.

If you’re into history, Belfast has it by the bucketful. The Titanic Belfast will give you an overview of Belfast’s shipbuilding history as well as the story of the Titanic itself – there’s even a ride. Belfast’s own history shows through in the iconic Peace Wall and the street art upon it – if you truly want to understand the history of Northern Ireland, a trip to the Wall and Falls Road is a must. If pop culture is more your style, a tour of the locations used to create Westeros in Game of Thrones might be of interest! Crumlin Road Gaol and St George’s Market are both quirky stops that are integral to Belfast, and are well worth a visit. The Giant’s Causeway – a UNESCO heritage site – might be a fair way from the city, but if you’re in Belfast for a long stint it is a must see!

It’s not without reason that Belfast’s many bars, pubs and clubs are packed with punters most nights of the week. Even better, they’re mostly within walking distance of each other, so you can pick and choose what you like. The Eglentine and the Parlour Bar are favourites with Queen’s University students, while the Hudson, Kelly’s Cellars and the Dirty Onion are Belfast institutions that will show you a traditional night out. Limelight is the place to be for live music, though most other pubs and bars will feature some at least one night a week.

Have you thought about a spare room rental?

Northern Ireland’s capital has its fair share of stuff to do and things to see, but where can you stay while you explore this beautiful city? The Holylands is considered a rite of passage for most students in the city, and it delivers exactly what you expect from a student area – cheap rents, lively social scene and a lot of noise. Lisburn Road and Stranmills mop up most other students, recent grads and young professionals due to the slightly higher quality of accommodation and amenities, accompanied of course by a jump in rent prices. Botanic – near the sublime Botanical Gardens – is a hub for socialites and postgrads; near the city centre and McClay’s library, it offers everything you need. If you’re unsure about where to go, why not choose a spare room with a host landlord when you arrive – they can offer inside knowledge of the city, as well as a ready made friend and guide!
